Who We Are

Footsteps of Saint Paul is operated by Philokalia Travel, a Christian-founded tour company based in Greece, created with one clear purpose: to serve the faithful with humility, reverence, and hospitality.

Why “Philokalia”?

“Philokalia” (Φιλοκαλία) is a Greek word meaning “love of the beautiful and the good”, a central concept in Orthodox Christian spiritual thought. It reflects our philosophy: we believe that true beauty lies in faith, truth, and the journey of the soul.

Our Mission

To bring Christian pilgrims closer to their faith by offering spiritually enriching, historically accurate, and reverently guided tours along the path of the Apostle Paul and other key biblical figures. Every itinerary is designed to deepen your connection with scripture, Christian history, and the presence of God.

Meet Our Founder: Dimitrios Kalaris

Raised in a quiet village near ancient Philippi—where the Apostle Paul first preached on European soil—Dimitrios Kalaris grew up surrounded by scripture, heritage, and faith.

After studying theology and history in Thessaloniki and working for over a decade in the travel industry, Dimitrios saw a painful truth: most “pilgrimage tours” were more tourism than testimony—rushed, shallow, and lacking the reverence these holy sites deserve.

So, in 2025, he stepped out in faith and founded Philokalia Travel—a Christian travel ministry rather than a commercial agency. His goal was not to sell tours but to create sacred experiences where believers can walk, pray, and weep where the Apostle Paul once proclaimed Christ crucified.
